What would a summer camp be like without counselors? BORING! They’re happy, fun, spiritual, and good examples. We need YOU to be a counselor at BYU Life After Loss Camp for Teens!

Available Positions

Overnight Counselor
This is a full-time, overnight position. Due to the nature of this specific camp, we are looking for counselors who have experienced the loss of a loved one at an early age (18 years or younger). Counselors will supervise a group of 10–12 participants and will reside at Camp Maple Dell throughout the program. Housing and meals will be provided. You will assist with check-in and check-out, lead sharing circles, supervise evening activities, and teach nightly devotionals. One day of training prior to the camp is required. Position is from Monday, July 13, 2026, through Saturday, July 18, 2026.

Each of our dedicated, enthusiastic counselors will be responsible for the following:

  • Mentoring a group of 10 to 12 youth, ensuring their physical and spiritual well-being.
  • Regularly reporting to administrative staff about your specific stewardship.
  • Being a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ.
  • Teaching youth in a variety of settings.
  • Motivating and inspiring your assigned youth, handling discipline when necessary.

As a representative of BYU, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a Young Single Adult member in good standing of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
  • Have at least one year of college or one year of work experience beyond high school in a business-related field.
  • Enjoy working with youth and feel comfortable in small group settings.
  • Be organized, teachable, and dependable.
  • Complete ALL mandatory training requirements. 
  • Abide by the BYU Honor Code.

Payment for counselors is $600 for the week contract. This includes an all-day training on the Saturday before camp, July 11.
